The church's archives contain some wonderful photographs illustrating the history of the Church. Few people have ever seen them and that's a shame. Circuit riding preachers began preaching in Princeton as early as 1810. Eventually a congregation was formed and by April of 1847 a building was built to house the Princeton Methodist Episcopal congregation. That first building was not on the corner of Nassau Street and Vandeventer, but was the second building on the block, as shown in the photograph below. Dr. Bartine, a physician, had his home and office in the building on the corner.
