PUMC Planning Process 2009-2010
The Church Council and committees continue to work very hard at developing a plan for the Princeton United Methodist Church – a plan that will help us to live the PUMC Mission and Vision.
At the June Church Council meeting, the Committees will have the opportunity to present the progress they have made on their plans since the Church Council Retreat in March.
We have been posting updates on this web site. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with this planning process and find out what our Council and Committees will be doing over the next two years to help our Mission and Vision come alive.

Church Council Planning Retreat, March 28th
Our Church Council Planning retreat was held on Saturday, March 28th. 35 members of the Church Council and various committees and missions met at the Pennington United Methodist Church to begin to create the strategic plan for PUMC – a plan that will help us to make our Mission and Vision come alive. Our Mission is “We are a diverse community joyfully responding to God’s love and growing as Disciples of Christ by nurturing, teaching, reaching and serving all people.”
At the retreat we focused on five goal areas aligned to this Mission: (1) Reaching people through membership, (2) Reaching people through worship, (3) Nurturing people in our congregation, (4) Teaching God’s people, and (5) Serving God’s people. Details and a listing of all of the goals are on our PUMC web site, but examples include reaching out to inactive members and inviting them back to Church, expanding our worship opportunities, making our worship and all of our programs more inclusive of cultural diversity, increasing fellowship opportunities for all people at PUMC, increasing communications and cooperation between committees and missions within the Church, continuing our focus on the spiritual development of our children and youth, and reaching out to those in our community who are in need.
This was a very productive retreat, and we are well on our way to having a plan for the next two years for PUMC. The committees have agreed to complete their plans by the June Church Council meeting. So stay tuned – more to come.
