New Children's Church Program

On Sunday November 1, we began a new Children’s Church program during the 11 o’clock worship service. This program is in direct response to feed-back that we have received from parents and other members of our church family. Under the direction of Pam B, this program will be for 1st through 5th graders and will be in addition to the nursery and pre-school programs that we already offer at the 11 o’clock hour.

All children through 5th grade will still be a part of the 11 o’clock worship service through the Children’s Sermon. Following the Children’s Sermon, our 1st through 5th graders will then have the option of going to Children’s Church or staying with their parents through the remainder of the worship service. The Children’s Church program will be an opportunity for our children in 1st through 5th grade to experience the traditions and rituals of worship by participating in hymn singing, a message, activities and an offering time that is appropriate for this age group. The message and activities will be linked to that morning’s Children’s Sermon and liturgy so that Children’s Church and the regular worship service are connected. We will pilot the Children’s Church program through the end of January and, based on the response and feedback from parents and members of the congregation, make any necessary adjustments to the program.

In order to make Children’s Church a successful addition to our education program for children, we need your help. Pam B has volunteered to direct this program. We are looking for one or two other adults who feel called by God to help Pam select and develop the curriculum, plan the activities and share in the running of the program on those Sundays when Pam is unable to be present. If you are interested or want to explore this opportunity for you to serve, please contact the Church Office office(at)princetonumc.org. We are also looking for volunteers to sign up for one Sunday a month to just assist -- lead the children from the sanctuary to the classroom, help with an activity and offering, or play the piano for hymn singing. During the month of October you will have the opportunity to sign up as a monthly volunteer.

PUMC has a rich and vibrant education program for our children. We look forward to expanding this program through a Children’s church.
